Friday, April 26-The Oregon Trail Dance Club will have a Regular Dance at the IOOF Hall in Gering from 7:00-9:00 with Lucky calling.  We will have PLUS dancing from 6:30-7:00pm.  The IOOF Hall is at 800 N Street in Gering.

And…..

Sunday April 28-ThOregon Trail Dance Club will have a dance in Kimball at the 4-H hall on the fairgrounds.   Pre-rounds with Steve Kline at 2:30-3:00.   Dance at 3:00 with Lucky and Steve Kline.   Pot luck afterward as always.

“Restorative Justice” film review and panel discussion @ Historic Midwest Theater

Traffic Update: Experiment Farm Rd & Swedell Rd @ Mitchell

The Scotts Bluff County Roads Department wants motorists to be aware of a change involving access to Swedell Road on the eastern edge of Mitchell. As of Tuesday morning, access to Swedell Road can be made by using the west entrance of Experiment Farm Road off of Highway 26 on the edge of town.
The change is part of the construction process involving replacement of the Experiment Farm Road bridge over the Tri-State Canal.
Pancake Feed, Bake Sale, Sewing Room Gifts @ Gering United Methodist Church

Gering United Methodist Church will host their annual Pancake Feed, Bake Sale and Sewing Room Gift Sale this Saturday, April 27th from 7:00am to 11:00am at 900 “O” Street.

The breakfast is all you can eat for $6.00 for adults, and $3.00 for kids 12 and Under.  Pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, ham and drink.  All are welcome!

Rural Fire Dept Pancake Breakfast @ Scottsbluff

Scottsbluff Rural Fire Department is holding their Annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, April 27th from 7:00am to 11:00am at the Rural Fire Hall, 1717 East 15th in Scottsbluff.

All You Can Eat Pancakes, Eggs and Sausage and beverages will be available.  Adult Ticket is $6.00 and Kids 6 and Under are Free, so bring the whole family!  Look over the fire trucks and equipment and meet the volunteers who work to protect you and your property everyday.

Raffles and a 50/50 drawing too!  Everyone is welcome!

 

Summer Swimming Lesson Registration

Red Cross swim lessons will once again be conducted at Big Blue Bay this summer. Registration for lessons will be offered at the Knight Museum on April 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The registration fee of $30 is required. To expedite the process, the registration form is on the City’s web page @ www.cityofalliance.net. Go to Departments, Parks & Recreation, Pool, Swimming Lessons. Autism Society Puzzle Walk @ Riverside Discovery Center - Scottsbluff

Car Seat Check-Up @ Scottsbluff Public Safety Building

The Scottsbluff Police Department and the City of Scottsbluff will conduct a Child Car Seat Check-Up, Saturday,  at the Scottsbluff Public Safety Building, 1801 Avenue B, from 9:00am to 12 Noon.

Enter the parking lot off of West 19th Street.  In case of bad weather, the check-up will be moved indoors.

No appointment is needed, allow 20 to 30 minutes per seat.  It is free of charge.

Diaper Depot and Bike Giveaway @ Scottsbluff

First Baptist Church in Scottsbluff will be holding its monthly Diaper Depot at the church located at 3009 Avenue I in Scottsbluff on Saturday, April 27th from 9-11am.

Diapers of all sizes will be available for those who may have a need. There will also be a large supply of baby clothes and supplies available on a first come, first serve basis.

Due to a generous donation from the Western Nebraska Bicycling Club and Keep Scottsbluff-Gering Beautiful there will also be a limited supply of refurbished bicycles, both children and adult, available also on a first come first serve basis and one per individual.

Description: Discover tips and tricks to identify birds in your backyard and the common bird species that call the bluff home. A limited number of binoculars and birds identification guides will be available.

Rx Drug Take Back Day @ Chadron Police Department

The City of Chadron, in cooperation with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), is participating in the 16th Annual Prescription Drug Take Back Day.  Drug Take Back Day is scheduled for 27 April, 2019.  For your convenience, all unused or expired prescription drugs can be dropped off at the Chadron Police Department, located at 125 Main Street in Chadron, NE between 10:00am and 2:00pm

All unused and expired prescription drugs are allowed for deposit.

The following items ARE NOT allowed:

  • Needles or other sharps

  • Asthma inhalers

  • Mercury thermometers

  • Iodine-containing medications

  • Illicit drugs or substances (including marijuana which is still a schedule 1 drug under federal law), and any prescription medications obtained illegally.

History of West Nebraska Methodist Hospital

Vickie Schmidt will present her program on the history of the West Nebraska Methodist Hospital, the little known story of the building as it was originally intended,  and how it ultimately met a 6000 pound wrecking ball.

The program will be featured as part of the Genealogy Roundtable Forum at the West Nebraska Family Research and History Center, at 1602 Avenue A in Scottsbluff.  For information:  635-2400.
