A freewill cash donation will be collected as people drive in, with the proceeds split between the Midwest Theater, Legacy of the Plains Museum, and another featured community organization, which is Scottsbluff-Gering Community Soup Kitchen this week.

ONE FREE BAG OF POPCORN PER VEHICLE ON FRIDAY NIGHT  sponsored by Island Law Office to the first 60 cars. Please visit and support our drive-thru concessions with a menu featuring popcorn, candy, and bottled beverages will be available. Our preferred payment method is contactless use of credit/debit card or if paying by cash, exact change is requested no change will be given.

The Midwest Theater worked with the Panhandle Public Health District to develop guidelines everyone will need to follow to care for our community during this fun event:

  • Please do not come if you or a member of your family is sick.

  • PLEASE Only attend as a family/group who all live together. Do not stop and pick up your friends/family or other people who don’t live with you. We reserve the right to turn you away, if we know you are attending with others.

  • No One under the age of 18 will be admitted without a Parent/Guardian.  For everyone’s Safety, the Parent/Guardian must be driving

  • Starting 5/15/20  We will provide a porta potty for emergency use along with hand sanitizer. We still recommend you use the restroom before you arrive.  Please ensure 6 feet apart should a line start to form for use.  We ask that one person use at a time, unless with a child.

  • You will need to stay inside your vehicle at all times, except to use the bathroom.

  • Starting 5/15/20: For pickup trucks – .You can sit in the back of a truck.

  • Starting 5/15/20: For SUV/Mini Vans – You can sit with the hatch up/back door open.

  • You will need an FM radio to receive the movie sound inside your vehicle. Consider bringing a battery-powered portable radio to avoid running down your vehicle’s battery.

  • Please wait for an attendant to help you park to ensure an optimal viewing experience for everyone. Larger vehicles will be parked towards the back and sides of the parking lot.

Fairview Cemetery Memorial Day Weekend @ Scottsbluff

The City of Scottsbluff Parks and Recreation Department would like to announce that the Cemetery office will be closed during the Memorial Day weekend, and Memorial Day. The
office is temporarily closed until further notice due to COVID-19. Also, in accordance with the Governors mandates, there will be no Memorial Day Service at the Cemetery this year.

You can, however, watch a streaming of the Memorial Day Service on KNEB.TV or Allo TV(15) on Memorial Day at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 5 p.m. It will be available on demand after the 10 a.m. viewing online at KNEB.tv

Fairview Cemetery is located at 4109 5th Ave., Scottsbluff. The cemetery is open for  visitors from sunrise until sunset. (We do ask that you practice social distancing during your visit to Fairview Cemetery). The City will allow flowers and adornments to be placed  on the graves 10 days prior to, and 10 days following Memorial Day. Monday May 25th is Memorial Day, a federal holiday.  Federal, State, County and other local government offices as well as the Post Office and Courts will be closed.  No regular mail will be delivered.

The stock, bond and ag commodity markets will not trade.

Trash pick up schedules may be altered in your community.

For example

The City of Scottsbluff Sanitation Department Monday trash and yard waste route will pick up on Tuesday. Tuesday trash and yard waste route will pick up on Wednesday.  Recycling pick up will resume June 8th.

The City of Kimball  Landfill,  will be closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day.
The Kimball Library will be closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday, May 23, 2020 through Monday, May 25, 2020.
As of June 1, 2020, The Kimball Library will be return to being open on  Saturdays.

  • All of us at Rural Radio Scottsbluff, want to help you remember and honor our deceased veterans on Memorial Day. And, since you won’t be able to attend in person, we are here to bring you coverage of the Scottsbluff Memorial Day Program.
    • We will have the entire service on KNEB.tv (Allo Channel 15 and online at KNEB.tv) on Monday at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 5 p.m. It will be available on demand after the 10 a.m. viewing online at KNEB.tv too!
    • We’ll have the entire program, including the featured speaker  and roll call of departed veterans for the past year.

Riverside Discovery Center will be open for extended hours, 9am-6pm, Memorial Day Weekend Friday May 22nd – Monday
May 25th.

Memorial Day Weekend marks the beginning of Summer Hours at the zoo.  Starting May 26th, the zoo’s hours will be Sunday-Thursday 9:30am-4:30pm and  new this year, we will have extended hours 9am-6pm, every Friday and Saturdays during  the Summer.

The American Legion Gering Post 36 will conduct its annual Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 25, 10 am, at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. The ceremony will include the Post 36 Color Guard firing volleys in honor of departed veterans and the laying of a wreath by the Gering American Legion Auxiliary. The public is welcome. Due to Directed Health Measure related to Covid-19, social distancing of 6 ft between family groups will be required. Individuals who attend are also requested to wear face masks

May Beef Month BarBQue @ Rural Radio (KNEB) Studios

Rural Radio Scottsbluff is celebrating May-National Beef Month with our annual BarBQue for Camp Scott.
It’s this Friday from 11 to 1 at our headquarters on East Portal Place Drive.  We’re changing it up a little bit this year to make it easy and safe for everyone.  Just drive along the street on the north side of our lot and pick up your lunch and you’re on your way.
We’re suggesting a 5 dollar donation for Camp Scott–the summer program for kids with special needs.
You get a grilled beef burger, chips and runza cookie all bagged and ready to go along with a drink and a recipe from our sponsor– the Nebraska Beef Council.

Church of Christ Monthly Soup Kitchen “Grab N’ Go Meal”
