Movie Synopsis: Set in 33 A.D. Judea, where exasperated Romans are trying to impose some order, it is a time of chaos and change with no shortage of messiahs and followers willing to believe in them. At its centre is Brian Cohen, a reluctant would-be messiah who rises to prominence as a result of a series of absurd circumstances providing ample opportunity for the entire Monty Python ensemble (Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin) to shine in multiple roles as they question everyone and everything from ex-lepers, Pontius Pilate and the art of haggling, to revolutionaries, crazy prophets, religious fanaticism, Roman centurions and crucifixion.

Linda Grummert report that the bridge work is complete and not yet open, the intersection is complete and now  the roadwork is being finished.

The public is asked to be alert in that  area and watch for workers and equipment as they work this week.

Wildcat Hills shooting range plans closures @ Gering

DAV Van volunteer drivers needed

Volunteers are needed to drive the Disabled American Veterans Van to transport veterans from Gering, NE to the Cheyenne, WY VA Medical Center.

Please be advised, the DAV Van drivers don’t have to be veterans and there are medical limitations on who is able to drive.

Donate used durable medical equipment

Donate “no longer needed” gently used durable medical equipment to people in need.  Independence Rising is an organization that loans durable medical equipment to individuals with a disability or are recovering from an illness or surgery.

Examples are wheelchairs, walkers, canes, seated walkers, bath benches and chairs, toilet risers and commodes.

Independence Rising is an Independent Living Center located at  Northfield,  2350 Five Rocks Road in Gering.

Equipment rents for $10/per item for 4 months, if after 4 months the equipment is still needed it will be an additional $10/per item for another 4 months.

Safe Kids Nebraska Child Care Transportation Training

Regulations require mandatory child passenger safety training for child care centers who transport children. These regulations took effect May 20, 2013. The Safe Kids Nebraska Child Care Transportation Training is the only approved course to satisfy the following regulation requirements:

Child Care Centers – 391 NAC 3-006.10C

School Aged Only Centers- 391 NAC 4-006.09C

Preschool Programs- 391 NAC 5-006.09B.

A class is being planned for Monday, May 6th if there are enough participants. It will be at the Scottsbluff Public Safety Building 1801 Ave B. 6pm to 9pm. Please let me know Bobbi Kuhlman know if you have drivers that need to attend. It is $20 per student.

Sam & Louie’s will donate 10% of proceeds earned all day on Tuesday,  April 23rd to the Summer Reading Program at the Scottsbluff Lied Public Library, which begins June 4th.

Children dining at the restaurant are invited to complete a prepared coloring sheet and craft related to this year’s Summer Reading theme, “A Universe of Stories.”

The Summer Reading Program is free and offers children and teens birth through high school the opportunity to win prizes for reading and to attend programs and events related to the theme.

Traffic Update: Experiment Farm Rd & Swedell Rd @ Mitchell

The Scotts Bluff County Roads Department wants motorists to be aware of a change involving access to Swedell Road on the eastern edge of Mitchell. As of Tuesday morning, access to Swedell Road can be made by using the west entrance of Experiment Farm Road off of Highway 26 on the edge of town.
The change is part of the construction process involving replacement of the Experiment Farm Road bridge over the Tri-State Canal.

The Midwest Theater and Lied Center for Performing Arts are proud to present Tapestry Dance Company in Passing It Forward: The American Dream?, a touring production of tap dance theater that explores the rich and diverse history of America through music and dance. The public performance at the Midwest Theater in Scottsbluff on Wednesday, April 24th at 7:30 p.m.

Guest artist Kyle Van Newkirk is a Nebraskan native from Morrill, NE. He is an award-winning choreographer, performer, and a tap dance teacher.
