Minatare-Melbeta Volunteer Fire Department will hold its second annual fireworks show fundraiser Sunday, June 30th in downtown Minatare.
Activities start at 7:30pm join and meet your fire fighters for dinner and enjoy the fireworks at dusk. Donations are welcome!

The City of Gering will begin spraying for mosquitoes on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. Spraying will continue every Tuesday and Thursday evening; weather permitting, for the remainder of the mosquito season.
The City of Terrytown has contracted with the City of Gering for mosquito spraying on Tuesdays in residential areas, in the parks and along trails.

A traveling photography exhibit by renowned nature photographer Michael Forsberg of Lincoln is on display at the Wildcat Hills Nature Center at Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area through Aug. 20.
The Wildcat Hills Nature Center is open daily 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit is open to the public free of charge, but a Nebraska park entry permit, available for purchase at the center or online at outdoornebraska.org, is required for vehicles entering the park.

The Gering City Band have begun their annual “Concert In the Park” series at Gering’s Legion Park.
Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the band, directed by Randy Raines. Admission is free.
A special concert will be performed on Tuesday July 2nd, featuring patriotic works and songs celebrating Independence Day. This concert will also be performed at Legion Park.
The City Band will then perform at Five Rocks Amphitheater on Friday, July 12 for their annual Oregon Trail Days concert.
The Band will then return to Legion Park for their final summer concert on Thursday, July 18th.
All concerts begin at 7:30 pm
Independence Day is celebrated Thursday, July 4th. All federal, state, and local government offices will be closed. The U.S. Stock and Commodity Markets will not trade. The U.S. Postal Offices will be closed, regular mail will not be delivered.
The City of Scottsbluff Sanitation Department announces Thursday’s trash and yard waste will be picked up on Wednesday (7/3/19) Friday trash and yard waste pickup will remain normal.
City of Gering Residential and Commercial trash collection normally collected on Thursday will be collected on Friday, July 5th, after Commercial and Residential customers that are normally collected on Wednesday.
The City of Kimball Library and Landfill, will be closed in observance of the Independence Day Holiday on Thursday the 4th.
Scotts Bluff National Monument’s Centennial Exhibit will be on display at the Legacy of the Plains Museum this summer.
The exhibit titled “100 Years of Scotts Bluff National Monument” will be open to the public starting Thursday, May 9th, through September.
Showcasing the vast history and culture at Scotts Bluff National Monument, the exhibit will feature an original soap box derby car, an adobe brick made by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the 1930’s, historical photographs, interpretive displays and the William Henry Jackson prints originally housed in the Visitor Center, which is undergoing a major renovation and expansion project.
The centennial exhibit will be free and open to the public. Regular museum admission is required for the main gallery.
