Please be advised, the DAV Van drivers don’t have to be veterans and there are medical limitations on who is able to drive.

Your donation allows Independence Rising to rent durable medical equipment to individuals who have a disability or are recovering from illness or surgery. This assistive equipment provides essential support necessary for individuals to live independently in the community. Equipment rents for $10/per item for 4 months.

Monday May 27th is the U.S. Holiday for Memorial Day. All Federal, State and Local Government offices will be closed. Regular Mail will not be delivered. U.S. Postal Offices will be closed. Many businesses will also be closed.
Due to the holiday, trash collection for Gering Residential & Commercial customers will be collected on Tuesday, after Commercial and Residential customers that are normally collected on Tuesday. Residential customers need to be aware that collection may be later than normal due to the holiday.
The City of Kimball offices and City departments, including the Landfill, will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2019 in observance of Memorial Day.
The Kimball Library will be closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday, May 25, 2019 through Monday, May 27, 2019.
Eastern Wyoming College will be closed Monday May 27, 2019 in observance of Memorial Day. Offices will reopen on Tuesday May 28. The Fitness Center will be closed May 25-27 and will resume normal operating hours on Tuesday May 28.
The Catholic communities in Bayard, Bridgeport and Dalton will celebrate Mass on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2019 at the local cemeteries.
Father CP Varghese, pastor of Sacred Heart in Bayard,
All Souls in Bridgeport, and St. Mary’s in Dalton, will preside.
Mass at the Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery at Bridgeport will be held at 8 a.m., at the Bayard Cemetery at 10 a.m., and at St. Mary’s Cemetery at Dalton at 5 p.m.
Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and umbrellas (for
shade). In case of inclement weather, Mass will be held at the respective churches.

Once again, area residents and visitors will have an opportunity early this summer to observe, and in some cases, participate in excavation at the Hell Gap Paleoindian site, which was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2018.
A series of public meetings to introduce the site, its history, and possible future developments, will be held throughout the area prior to and during the field school season.
The Summer 2019 field school will run in three sessions from June 21 to July 29: June 21-July 1, July 6-15, July 20-29. Hell Gap is located northeast of Guernsey on Whalen Canyon Road.

veterans graves at both Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery and
Fairview Cemetery at Scottsbluff, NE.
Volunteers are asked to be at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery
on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 9:00 am and immediately
following that the volunteers will go to Fairview Cemetery to
pick up the US grave flags.
The Homesteaders Museum and the City of Torrington are excited to announce the arrival of the exhibit Naval Ships with Wyoming Names, a traveling exhibit from the Fort Casper Museum. This exhibit will be open to the public at the Homesteaders Museum on 495 Main Street in Torrington, WY with no cost of admission until the end of May. Museum hours are Monday through Friday 9:30 am to 4:00 pm and by appointment.
This exhibit was organized by Fort Caspar Museum as a traveling exhibit that features many of the U.S. Navy ships named after the state of Wyoming—its people, cities and towns, counties, and rivers—beginning with the earliest ship in 1900 up through ones that are in service today
Valley Youth Connections is hosting a Narcotics and Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting. This is a 17 and under closed group.
Snacks and refreshments available. The NA/AA group will have a meeting every Tuesday from 5:00pm to 6:00pm at Valley Youth Connections, 29 S. Beltline Hwy West.

The Western Nebraska Pioneers regret to announce that tonight’s home opener against the Fremont Moo is postponed due to rain and wet grounds. The game will be made up on Thursday, May 30 in a doubleheader that will start at 5:00 p.m. Two seven-inning games will be played and the first 500 fans will receive free cowbells, courtesy of SuzyQ.
The game scheduled for Wednesday, May 29 will now be Opening Night, with free t-shirts to the first 500 fans, courtesy of The Steel Grill. Wednesday night is Scottsbluff Schools Foundation Night, highlighting educators from the Scottsbluff school district and their families.
