Safe Kids Nebraska Child Care Transportation Training

Regulations require mandatory child passenger safety training for child care centers who transport children. These regulations took effect May 20, 2013. The Safe Kids Nebraska Child Care Transportation Training is the only approved course to satisfy the following regulation requirements:

Child Care Centers – 391 NAC 3-006.10C

School Aged Only Centers- 391 NAC 4-006.09C

Preschool Programs- 391 NAC 5-006.09B.

A class is being planned for Monday, May 6th if there are enough participants. It will be at the Scottsbluff Public Safety Building 1801 Ave B. 6pm to 9pm. Please let me know Bobbi Kuhlman know if you have drivers that need to attend. It is $20 per student.

Theatre West Pre-Season Ticket Sale

Season tickets are on sale for the 2019 Theatre West summer productions.  The grand opening of the remodeled WNCC performing arts center and theatre will coincide with Theatre West’s first 2019 production on June 14th .

Tickets can be purchased by mail or online from April 8 – May 8th

Traffic Update: Experiment Farm Rd & Swedell Rd @ Mitchell

The Scotts Bluff County Roads Department wants motorists to be aware of a change involving access to Swedell Road on the eastern edge of Mitchell. As of Tuesday morning, access to Swedell Road can be made by using the west entrance of Experiment Farm Road off of Highway 26 on the edge of town.
The change is part of the construction process involving replacement of the Experiment Farm Road bridge over the Tri-State Canal.

2nd Annual Day of Caring @ Central Church of Christ - Gering

The 2nd Annual Panhandle Day of Caring is April 25th at Central Church of Christ in Gering.  A day for family caregivers caring for a loved one of any age with a special need.

Family cargivers can register by calling 308 432 8190 or by emailing respite@wchr.net.  The event is free to family members caring for a loved one with special needs, but a headcount is needed for food, so please call or email to register.

A Night of Laughter Fundraiser for CCS @ Scottsbluff

A night of laughter with family friendly comedian DeWayne Hill, at the Hampton Inn in Scottsbluff.  Its a fundraiser for  Community Christian School.  The evening also includes an Italian dinner, silent auction and musical entertainment.

Arbor Day Closings/Trash Pickup Schedules

Arbor Day is a state holiday observed in Nebraska.  Most state offices are closed.  Some local government offices may also be closed, including County Offices.

This holiday is celebrated on the last Friday in April, and affects such services as trash collection:

Due to the holiday on Friday the 26th, City of Gering Residential and Commercial customers normally collected on Friday will be collected on Thursday, the 25th after Commercial and Residential customers that are normally collected on Thursday. Residential customers need to be aware that collection may be later than normal due to the holiday.

The City of Scottsbluff Sanitation Department would like to advise the public that we will follow an revised schedule for the week of Arbor Day April 22-26, 2019. Monday and Tuesday trash/yard waste route will remain the same. Thursday trash/yard waste route will pick up on Wednesday (4/24/19). Friday trash/yard waste route will pick up on Thursday (4/25/19). West side recycling will pick up on Tuesday (4/23/19). East side recycling will pick up on Wednesday (4/24/19). There will be no trash/yard waste pickups on Friday (4/26/2019)

“Oceans of Grass” Film Screening/Dinner @ Banner County High School - Harrisburg

The 100% Nebraska made film “Oceans of Grass” will be shown in a special public viewing at the Banner County High School Gym at 6:30pm on Friday, April 26th.

The film presents an authentic artistic and emotional journey of Sandhills ranching and the Nebraska ethos.

The film will be the feature for the Dinner and a Show night to benefit the Close Up Washington D.C. trip next Spring for BCHS Juniors and Seniors for fundraise the entire cost of the trip.

The community supper begins at 5:30pm, the film at 6:30pm.
